Islam in Egypt Breaking News: Nathan Gardels: Ex-CIA Analyst Graham Fuller on Cairo Coup

Wochit 1:03 mins

Graham E. Fuller a former vice chairman of the National Intelligence Council at the CIA, is one of the most clear-minded and experienced analysts of political Islam. He is the author, most recently, of "A World Without Islam" and "Three Truths and a Lie," a memoir. Egyptian troops opened fire on supporters of ousted President Mohammed Morsi, who were marching on a headquarters of the Republican Guard. At least one demonstrator was severely wounded, as tens of thousands chanting "down with military rule" protested around the country to return the Islamist leader to office. A senior judge, Adly Mansour was sworn in as Egypt's interim president to replace ousted Islamist President Mohammed Morsi as the military launched a major crackdown against the Muslim Brotherhood. Reeling from what it called a military coup against democracy, the group said it would not work with the new political system.
