Judge Rules L.A. Clippers' $2 Billion Sale to Steve Ballmer is OK

by TheStreet 0:58 mins

The record $2 billion sale of the Los Angeles Clippers can officially proceed, a Los Angeles Superior Court judge has ruled. The judge sided with Shelly Sterling, estranged wife of Clippers owner Donald Sterling, who was banned for life from the NBA for making racist remarks. Shelly Sterling had asked the judge to confirm her as the trustee of the family trust that owns the team. Now, the ruling paves the way for the sale of the team to former Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer, who set August 15th as the deadline for the deal to be completed. It also prevents Donald Sterling from appealing to keep the team.
