Customers of MF Global's failed broker-dealer unit and the trustee overseeing its liquidation won court approval for a $546 million settlement with JPMorgan Chase & Co. Zynga just filed its 8K regulatory filing that outlines the compensation it took to attract Microsoft Xbox head Don Mattrick to the troubled social gaming company as its new CEO, replacing founder Mark Pincus. In total the longtime gaming exec is getting about $50 million in cash and stock compensation over several years. Apple's plan to release a budget iPhone is clearly fraught with peril for the company: It needs to make sure that it gets an affordable device out to consumers in emerging markets without sacrificing too much of the profit margins that have made it one of the most profitable companies in world history. Barron's points us to a new research note from?UBS analyst Steve Milunovich, who outlines in detail why making a cheaper iPhone is really a risk for Apple's traditional business model.
