The charges against billionaire hedge fund manager Steven A. Cohen have "no merit" and Cohen will fight them "vigorously," said a spokesman for Cohen's firm SAC Capital Advisors in a statement to the media. Authorities say that the death of a man who was on the witness list in the trial of mobster James "Whitey" Bulger is suspicious. The body of Stephen "Stippo" Rakes was found in Lincoln, Mass. The cause of death is yet unknown, and the Middlesex district attorney's office reported that there were "no obvious signs of trauma." A federal judge denied BP's attempt to suspend payments related to the 2010 Gulf of Mexico oil spill while an investigator looks into possible misconduct in the payout process.
