The Los Angeles Superior Court ruled in favor of Shakira, dismissing the lawsuit filed against her by her ex, Antonio de la Rua. This case was one of three lawsuits that Antonio had filed, claiming that he had a "partnership" in Shakira's income and that he was the brains behind some of her most popular hits. Hours after the Department of Justice and 33 U.S. states proposed their own set of remedies for Apple to comply to following its July loss in the e-books price-fixing case, the company came back with its own set of terms and called the government's proposals vague, overreaching, and unwarranted. In a brief filed recently, Apple called the government's proposed measures a "draconian and punitive intrusion into Apple's business, wildly out of proportion to any adjudicated wrongdoing or potential harm." Stephen Rakes, a man who said he had been extorted by James "Whitey" Bulger and hoped to testify at his trial was given iced coffee laced with cyanide that killed him, authorities said Friday, and a Massachusetts man was charged with attempted murder in his death.
