National Security Agency Breaking News: NSA Chief Gen. Alexander Delivers Speech To Black Hat Defending His Surveillance Work

Wochit 1:13 mins

General Alexander, head of the National Security Agency, recently took the stage at the Black Hat security conference to reiterate that what the NSA is up to is legal, efficacious and, frankly, hardly controversial. Given Glenn Greenwald's deep and broad leaks concerning the general's activities, the NSA had a skeptical audience to convert to its side. President Barack Obama is meeting with lawmakers to discuss surveillance programs run by the National Security Agency. Obama's national security team is trying to keep its surveillance powers intact while acknowledging some limitations appear inevitable. The bipartisan meeting comes after Russian authorities granted temporary asylum to NSA leaker Edward Snowden. National Security Agency leaker Edward Snowden left the transit zone of a Moscow airport and officially entered Russia after authorities granted him asylum for a year, a move that suggests the Kremlin isn't shying away from further conflict with the United States.
