President Obama is on a fresh push to reinvigorate the economy, following through on a year-old promise to set up hubs around the country as magnets for high-tech manufacturing. He brought his pitch to North Carolina Wednesday. (Jan. 15)
Barbara: Donald Trump has convinced the Republican voters who support him the white male privilege he and so many have enjoyed for 200+ years should stay that way or whites will lose all their rights. As a senior, I watched and heard the same thing in the 70's as each black State and then Federal Congress and Senate slowly started electing blacks to office. The world did not end. Now Republicans are pushing the rhetoric that if women, latino's, or worse Muslims are elected to high office they will open the flood gates to illegals or ISIS and the U.S. and white male privilege will end. Anyone with a brain knows that is not true but it's been an effective campaign message to those afraid of change. The very idea that ones color, heritage, religion or ancestry should be a determining factor in their eligibility is the biggest divide between Republicans and Democrats. For Republicans, it is all important. For Democrats, we judge by the content of their character not the color of their skin or the God they worship. The important part to Democrats is if they will follow the U.S. Constitution and veto bills that seek to take equal rights away from any segment of our society. Republicans are consumed with passing laws to control personal behavior and eliminate equal rights for all U.S. Citizens. We must stop this idea that only white men are good and everyone else want's to destroy the U.S. The racism and bigotry is consuming us. Vote Blue and stop the hate.
