Officials: Brotherhood's Supreme Leader Detained

Wochit 1:05 mins

Egyptian security officials and state television say the supreme leader of the Muslim Brotherhood has been detained. Officials say Mohammed Badie was captured early Tuesday in an apartment in the eastern Cairo district of Nasr City. They?ve been through the drill there before, but global security and medical response companies say that deteriorating security conditions throughout Egypt have reduced the number of foreign business travelers there to workers who are deemed necessary. The specter of Benghazi is affecting U.S. policy in coup-wracked Egypt.Cited as a reason for closing some 20 American embassies and consulates this month, U.S. officials say the deadly attack in Libya is playing heavily into the Obama administration's response to Egypt's growing unrest. The fear in Washington is that any significant cut in military aid could prompt Egypt's ruling generals to scale back protection of the U.S. Embassy in Cairo and other facilities.
