One Reason Why Kmart Is Failing Is Because it Can't Sell Food

Kmart workers have pushed back hard on the company's 6:00 am store opening on Thanksgiving that eats into their valuable family time. What they need to be doing is pushing execs to improve in-stocks of food, and overall product quality. While Walmart and Target have begun to offer more fresh meats and produce, as well as organics, Kmart has largely sidestepped following the lead of more well-run rivals. Sales of grocery and other household items have declined for more than year at the struggling Kmart, starving the stores of warm bodies to shop higher margin areas of the store.
