Senate Breaking News: Tentative Senate Deal Reached on Student Loan Rates

Bipartisan Senate negotiators reached a tentative agreement on an overhaul of the federal student loan program after Democrats retreated on their position that subsidized loan rates be locked in for at least another year. In a joint statement after a meeting of House Republicans on the immigration issue, House Republican leaders pledged they would continue to work on a "step-by-step, common-sense approach to fixing what has long been a broken (immigration) system." Currently, in 33 states you can be fired, denied a promotion or be openly harassed at your job just for being gay. But not for long. The Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions just passed the Employment Non-Discrimination Act a bill that will ban workplace discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity.
