Tracy Martin, the father of slain Florida teenager, Trayvon Martin, is expected to discuss race and profiling before the Congressional Caucus on Black Men and Boys. Tracy Martin is also expected to comment on President Obama's remarks on race after the acquittal of George Zimmerman in Trayvon's death. Steven Rhodes, the bankruptcy judge overseeing Detroit's historic bankruptcy filing, has proposed appointing a federal judge as mediator, to hash out the most difficult disputes as the city struggles to resolve more than $18 billion in bond and pension obligations. Republican leaders have announced their disapproval of Rep. Steve King's (R-Iowa) criticism of young, undocumented immigrants, also known as Dreamers. In a recent interview, Steve King claimed that the majority of Dreamers are engaged in drug trafficking. "For everyone who's a valedictorian," King said, "There's another 100 out there that weigh 130 pounds and they?ve got calves the size of cantaloupes because they're hauling 75 pounds of marijuana across the desert. Those people would be legalized with the same act."
