Hopes of a ceasefire in the conflict between Ukraine and Russia lifted stocks higher at the opening bell Wednesday. Traders will also be looking for clarity on the U.S. economy with the release of the latest round of data including the July factory orders, August auto sales, which will be released throughout the session, and the Fed's Beige Book at 2pm, Eastern. President Obama is in Estonia for a one-day visit before heading to the NATO Summit in Wales. Standing next to the Estonian president, Obama expressed solidarity with Baltic State leaders anxious about Russia's aggression in Ukraine. Applications for U.S. home mortgages rose by 0.2% last week. The Mortgage Bankers Association reported refinancings drove the activity. Toll Brothers (TOL) reported its quarterly income more than doubled. CVS Caremark (CVS) is changing its corporate name to CVS HEALTH.
