Top Tech Stories of the Day: Nintendo Sold 160K Wii U Units Worldwide Last Quarter

Wochit 1:18 mins

To say that Nintendo's Wii U had a troubling fiscal first quarter during the three-month period ended June 30 might be an understatement. The game company announced that during that period, it sold only 160,000 Wii U units worldwide, bringing its grand total since its launch last year to just 3.6 million units sold. During the period, Nintendo sold just a little over 1 million software units globally. With so much anticipation built up with the launch of Moto X ? some of it from Google and Motorola executives themselves ? there are bound to be those who are disappointed. Motorola has a lot of ground to make up in brand and reputation, and this phone alone won?t single-handedly change its perception in the market. After Michael Dell and his partner Silver Lake Partners upped their bid for the company he founded, it seemed like the board at PC maker Dell would quickly move forward. But it turns out that's not happening. The company said that it's not in a position to accept the proposal yet, but would allow for a vote on the previous offer.
