U.S. posts $98 billion budget deficit in July

A report from the Treasury showed that The United States ran a budget deficit in July, although government revenues increased from a year earlier due to tax hikes and a strengthening economy. Federal authorities say Hannah Anderson, the 16-year-old girl who was abducted last week and rescued in Idaho, has returned to California with her father. The price of oil stabilized around $106 a barrel, while pump prices fell to their lowest level in a month. Benchmark oil for September delivery was up 6 cents to $106.03 a barrel in midday trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange. The contract had jumped $2.57, or 2.5 percent, on strong industrial production data from China.
