Walmart Forced to Turn Over Bribery Probe Documents, Court Rules

The Delaware Supreme Court ruled that Walmart must turn over documents related to the company's investigation into allegations that it paid bribes in Mexico. It follows Walmart's appeal of a lower court ruling ordering the company to turn over documents to an Indiana pension trust, which is a Walmart shareholder. The trust had sued Walmart for access to the documents in order to determine whether the company's board adequately investigated the allegations. Walmart spokeswoman Brooke Buchanan told us, "Yesterday's ruling was limited to procedural questions about whether plaintiffs have the right to inspect certain company documents."
