A recent study by consulting firm cg42 found that in the next 12 months, 16 percent of consumers intend to buy a new mobile device.
Of six brands on the market, Apple and Android dominate overall consumer purchase intent. And according to the study, these two brands capture a combined 61 percent of plans to buy.
The study shows a significant majority of 25- to 34-year-olds prefer Apple over Samsung and 10-times that for Microsoft.
The people undecided about which mobile device to buy is split almost evenly between two groups, the 18- to 24-year-old crowd and 43 percent of those age 65 and older. The undecided group means a projected 43 million units are up for grabs, according to cg42.
The study also found that consumers perceive Apple as the most innovative mobile device brand.
