At long last, the white iPhone has arrived.

Apple (AAPL) is now listing the product on its website, with the big development kicking off around 5 a.m. ET, according to Fortune's Philip Elmer-DeWitt, a long-time Apple and Steve Jobs watcher.

The white version of Apple's wildly popular smart phone had been expected a few months back, but it encountered delays. Now, the wait is over. Until now, the phone, on its fourth iteration, was available in black.

For Apple, the announcement should at least temporarily change the conversation that in recent days had been centered on its handling of data on customers' locations. How long it actually will remains to be seen.

No word yet on whether the color change will affect the overall Angry Birds experience, but it does of course provide a new option for potential phone buyers. The new iPhone will be on sale today.

Shares of Apple were down $2.34, or 0.7%, to $347.81 in the premarket.
