Starbucks (SBUX) - The coffee giant has people talking as they reaffirmed their long-term growth targets at their annual shareholders meeting. They also announce a pilto program to offer alcoholic beverages at it's stores. The eventual goal: to double their market cap to $100 billion.
Guess (GES) - Surprise the 80’s jeans company is still in business and is trading more than 5% lower on weak guidance.
Walter Energy (WLT) - The coal miner is getting slammed today, down more than 12%, after Bank of America (BAC) said demand for coal would be depressed for the next several years.
And your top trending ticker today is a cleaner kind of energy source - First Solar (FSLR)
The solar stock is up a whopping 135% in the last year and has had a solid week so far - up 28%.
The company said yesterday that their partnership with General Electric (GE) will lead to some big earnings wins in 2015 and 2016.
We'll see about that. Those types of predictions, especially in an industry like solar, might not come to fruition. Yes, First Solar was worth over $300 a share at it's peak in 2008 but we're a very different country right now and the markets have been to hell and back in that time and First Solar is sitting just above $70 now.
