Here’s What Tesla, Microsoft, Boeing and Best Buy Have in Common

What do Tesla Motors (TSLA), Microsoft (MSFT), Boeing (BA) and Best Buy (BBY) have in common? They're all contenders for "Company of the Year" -- a prestigious award determined by you, the Yahoo! Finance reader. The winner won't be announced until the end of the year, but here's a brief mid-term guide to who's leading the pack -- we're referring to the top picks as "All-Stars," in light of tonight's Major League Baseball All-Star Game at Citi Field in New York.

Here's how the players (i.e. companies) stack up in the voting as of July 15:

  • Tesla -- 40%
  • Boeing -- 19%
  • Microsoft -- 10%
  • Kroger (KR) -- 7%
  • LinkedIn (LNKD) -- 7%
  • Best Buy -- 6%
  • Western Digital (WDC) -- 4%
  • MetLife (MET) -- 4%

Yahoo! Finance will be accepting votes and write-in candidates until December so don't forget to partake in this highly competitive and esteemed honor. Before you submit your ideal "Company of the Year," remember this criteria: the company should have increased its dividend payout since Jan. 1; grew profits and revenue from the prior year; raised earnings or sales forecasts; has donated to charitable organizations or established charitable foundations.

Watch the video above to see what companies Yahoo! Finance's Aaron Task and Rick Newman choose as "Company of the Year."
