The drugstore chain Walgreen (WAG) reported quarterly earnings this morning, missing the street's EPS estimates of $0.93 by two pennies. Revenue was inline with estimates of $19.5 billion. The company said a slowdown in the introduction of higher-profit generic drugs cut into its gross profit margin.
Google (GOOG) has struck a deal with eyewear giant Luxottica (LUX) to bring their Google Glass product to two of the biggest brands in sunglasses: Oakley and Ray-Ban. The financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed. It's not the first deal for Google Glass. The company also has an agreement with VSP, a network of 30,000 nationwide eye doctors that has 60 million people on its vision plans.
Disney (DIS) has agreed to buy Maker Studios, a YouTube multi-channel network, for $500 million. That price could increase to $950 million if certain performance goals are met. Maker, which was founded in 2009, produces and distributes videos for over 55,000 channels that get about 5.5 billion views each month.
New home sales data was released this morning, we're watching KB Homes (KBH). According to the S&P/Case-Shiller index, U.S. home prices slipped for the third straight month in January. Prices fell 0.1% with 12 of the 20 tracked cities reporting a drop. New home sales for February was down 3.3.% from January to 440,000 from 468,000.
