Oracle Corp. is reportedly waging a “cloak-and-dagger” lobbying campaign against Google in an effort to cause both political and financial problems for the Mountain View-based search giant. Oracle has dedicated a portion of its $8.8 million Washington, D.C. spending to lobby against Google in key policy debates, according to a Recode report . The Redwood City-based firm has also pushed for penalties against Google in Europe, purchased billboard ads in Tennessee to antagonize its rival, and seeded negative stories in the press about the company, according to Recode's reporting.
