Daimler said to build electric Smart cars in China

Daimler in reportedly talks to make electric Smart cars with Chinese partner BAIC. Daimler took a nearly 4 percent stake in BAIC subsidiary BJEV in March and signed a deal to build a $1.9 billion factory in China in February. The parent company of Mercedes-Benz is in talks to build electric versions of its tiny Smart branded cars in China with a local partner, Bloomberg reported Monday, citing anonymous sources.
