Iconix Brand Group Inc. said Monday that it has partnered Ed Hardy with a new licensee, Vanilla Star, to bring the brand, known for its showy prints and designs, back to the U.S. and Canada. Graphic tees will start at $98 and are currently available online. The brand will draw from tattoo culture; Don "Ed" Hardy began as a tattoo artist, and will be getting a retrospective of his work at the de Young Museum on view from July 13, 2019 to October 6, 2019. The collection will also include track suits, hoodies and leather jackets. In addition to the core collection, there will also be a higher-end By Appointment Only option for custom, hand-painted items. Iconix shares are up nearly 2% in Monday trading, and have soared 61% for the year to date. The S&P 500 index has gained 12% for 2019 so far.
