When Pfizer spun off its animal health business in 2013, little could management have imagined that five years later the market value of the unit, called Zoetis, could have increased by about 150%. Now Eli Lilly is giving serious consideration to spinning off its animal medicine business unit.  Little wonder that even much smaller companies are getting into act. On Monday, investors in Kindred Biosciences were rewarded for their patience after the Food and Drug Administration’s  Center for Veterinary Medicine approved Mirataz, a therapeutic for managing weight loss in cats.
