GE makes biggest audit payout to KPMG this century

It may have been a hard year for General Electric Co., but the company sure generated a lot of work for its auditor, KPMG. The filings prior to 2000 do not include audit fees. In the proxy filing, the Boston-based company asked shareholders to endorse KPMG as its auditor for another year, in the face of increased scrutiny of GE’s accounting practices.
