CenturyLink considering strategic options, including selling off parts of business

CenturyLink (NYSE: CTL) leaders told analysts and investors Wednesday that it will undergo a strategic review of its consumer assets and has brought on advisers to do so. CEO Jeff Storey said on the company’s Q1 earnings conference call that it is in the early days of a lengthy process and he’s not sure if any transactions will come from the evaluation, but the goal is to maximize shareholder value. The company — which is based in Monroe, Louisiana but has much of its operations in Colorado following its acquisition of Level 3 — was not able to specify if that evaluation would lead them to selling off any of their business lines, but that it would, among other things, consider selling off things like data centers that could grow shareholder value.
