The Madison Square Garden Co. said Friday it had net income of $81.6 million, or $3.42 a share, in its fiscal second quarter to December 31, down from $189.6 million, or $7.96 a share, in the year-earlier period. The company said in a statement that year-earlier numbers do not include a full quarter of results for Obscura Digital, which the company acquired in Nov. of 2017. "Accordingly, the Company's results for fiscal 2019 are not directly comparable to fiscal 2018 results," said the statement. It also adopted a new revenue-recognition accounting standard that is not included in the year-earlier numbers, meaning those too are not directly comparable. Under that new standard, it had revenue of $632.2 million. Excluding the standard, revenue came to $593.6 million. The FactSet consensus was for EPS of $2.74 and revenue of $590 million. Shares were not yet active premarket, but have gained 28% in the last 12 months, while the S&P 500 has fallen 4.2%.
