Arista Gains 'Key' Win Against Cisco in Appeals Court, Says Piper

Arista Networks (ANET), which competes with Cisco Systems (CSCO) in the networking field, won a “key” victory this morning from the Federal Circuit Appeals Court, writes Andrew Nowinski of Piper Jaffray, as a patent held by Cisco was deemed unpatentable. The ruling "leaves less 'ammo' for Cisco to win in the 945 case and increases the probability of an Arista ‘win’,” writes Nowinski, who has a Neutral rating on Arista shares, and an Overweight rating on Cisco stock. The details: Earlier this morning, the Federal Circuit Appeals Court affirmed the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB)'s prior June 1, 2017 ruling in favor of Arista as it relates to the 668 patent.
