II-VI completes acquisition of Coherent, will take on new name

More than a year after it made its initial offer, Saxonburg-based semiconductor maker II-VI Inc. announced the close on its acquisition of Coherent Inc., a laser technology company based in Santa Clara, California, as part of a deal that's valued at about $7 billion. As a result of the acquisition, II-VI (NASDAQ: IIVI) announced that in the coming weeks, the combined company will take on Coherent's name and trade under Coherent's stock ticker (NASDAQ: COHR).
