County approves deal with Royal Caribbean for HQ expansion

Brian Bandell

Royal Caribbean Cruises received approval from the Miami-Dade County Commission on May 7 to expand and renovate its headquarters campus at PortMiami. The amended lease on county land was a major step for a $300 million project by the cruise line. “This campus serves as a sign of the company’s continuing commitment to its hometown, a beacon to the world-class talent it aims to attract — and a thank-you to everyone who has made RCL’s continuing growth possible.” Under the deal, PortMiami would recapture 4.6 acres leased to Marine Spill Response Corp. (MSRC) and lease 3.15 acres of that to RCL to expand its neighboring campus.
