Nike posts a solid rebound of a quarter; Post-bell shares soar

After an earnings period that left investors wanting, Nike Inc. (NYSE: NKE) roared back during its most recent quarter. The earnings report, for the Oregon company's fiscal 2018 fourth quarter, revealed that revenue increased 13 percent, to $9.8 billion, thanks to what the company called "strong double-digit revenue growth in international markets and Nike Direct globally." The latter phrase refers to the company's year-old direct-to-consumers initiative. Nike's per-share price was up by 6.43 percent, or more than $4.50, shortly before 2 p.m. Thursday.
