A Sure thing: LA/NY startup raises $12.5 million for insurtech platform

Sure, based in Los Angeles and New York, has raised an additional $12.5 million in Series B funding led by W.R. Berkley Corp., an insurance holding company that is among the largest specialty commercial writers in the U.S. and operates worldwide in the property casualty insurance business. Launched in 2015, the startup works with top insurance carriers to offer dozens of insurance products through its digital platform, from traditional coverage such as property and casualty, accident and health, and commercial to more novel offerings such as rideshare and mobility insurance. “As a valued investor and partner, the funding by W.R. Berkley Corp. is a testament to Sure’s skill and overall ability to create value for insurers and customers unlike anyone else,” Sure co-founder and CEO Wayne Slavin told me via email.
