Xcel Energy pushes to build $743M Colorado wind farm

Xcel Energy aims to take over construction of a $743 million northeast Colorado wind energy project to ensure it is completed and generates savings and tax credits the company says will benefit its electrical customers and investors. The power company, the Denver metro-area’s main electrical utility, seeks to win approval for taking possession of the Cheyenne Ridge Wind Project from the Colorado Public Utilities Commission in a hearing scheduled for April 24. “The alternative is don’t do it at all, or get it built,” said Alice Jackson, Xcel Energy president for Colorado.
