Xilinx Names COO Peng New Chief: Software in Focus

Shares of programmable chip maker Xilinx (XLNX) are up 48 cents, or 0.7%, at $70.97, after the company this afternoon announced that longtime CEO Moshe Gavrielov is retiring, and that the company’s chief operating officer, Victor Peng, a 10-year veteran of the firm, will take over. Peng will become CEO on January 29th. Xilinx chairman Dennis Segers called Peng “a proven leader with exceptional business acumen and a deep, unwavering dedication to customers.” Peng previously headed graphics products at Advanced Micro Devices (AMD).
