Exxon Mobil Corp on Sunday told workers at its Beaumont, Texas, refinery their six-month lockout will end if they ratify the company's contract offer or remove the United Steelworkers union (USW) as their representative. Amazon.com is aiming to hire 150,000 seasonal workers in the U.S., a move to get needed workers for the holidays against a tight labor market. The number of seasonal hires is more than the 100,000 Amazon announced last year and matches the number that rival Walmart said it would add this year. The additions build on Amazon’s plans, unveiled in September, to increase its ranks of permanent employees by 125,000.
