Avon donates $200K to prevent violence against women

A program funded by the charitable arm of direct-sales cosmetics giant Avon will train its representatives to support women and girls impacted by abuse as part of an effort to end violence against women around the world. The Avon Foundation for Women announced a $200,000 grant to Voices against Violence, an initiative of Vital Voices Global Partnership that will coordinate efforts among non-governmental organizations, law enforcement agencies and other service providers to improve investigation, prosecution, victim safety and survivor support, the company said. “It’s crucial that we open up the conversation about gender-based violence and open up partnerships and connection between the players that can make a tangible difference to women who are impacted,” Amy Greene, Chair of the Avon Foundation.
