Kroger shutters Columbus bakery, cuts 411 jobs

Kroger Co. has closed its Columbus bakery, eliminating 411 jobs. The Cincinnati-based grocer Monday morning said it shuttered the 300,000-square-foot operation at 457 Cleveland Ave. in downtown Columbus. Ken McClure, regional director of corporate affairs, said the operation is one of the oldest in the company and that the outdated equipment is no longer sustainable.
