Kroger plans to exit one of its markets

Kroger Co. is planning to close 14 of its stores in Raleigh-Durham, N.C., as it exits the market. “After a thorough evaluation of the market for a significant time period, we have decided to close our stores in the highly competitive Raleigh-Durham market,” Jerry Clontz, president of the Mid-Atlantic division of Kroger, said in a statement. The retail environment is challenging and changing in Raleigh-Durham.
