Ball Corp. makes massive wind and solar energy buy to offset emissions

Ball Corp. will buy enough wind and solar power under two new agreements to equal the electricity use of its North American business and offset half of the company's global greenhouse gas emissions. The Broomfield-based beverage packaging and aerospace company (NYSE: BLL) on Thursday announced virtual power purchase agreements for 388 megawatts of power produced by wind and solar projects in Oklahoma and Texas expected to come online by the end of 2021. “These renewable energy agreements place Ball among the leading corporate buyers of renewable energy in our industry and the U.S., marking a critical moment in our sustainability journey, and are a demonstration of our commitment to have the aluminum can recognized as the most sustainable package,” said John Hayes, Ball's chairman, president and CEO.
