Santander Bank co-president and commercial banking head Robert Rubino has left the Boston-based institution to join CIT Group, a move that comes less than a year and a half after he started at Santander. Rubino joined Santander in June 2017 from Citizens Bank, where he had been head of corporate finance and capital markets. In the year prior to Rubino’s arrival, Santander’s outstanding commercial and industrial loans had fallen by 20 percent, to $14.7 billion, according to Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. data.
