The prosecution’s lone eye witness in a federal criminal price-fixing case against five chicken industry executives completed two days of testimony Monday, leaving a conflicted picture for jurors to sort out. Robbie Bryant, a former Pilgrim’s Pride sales official, testified for several hours in a downtown Denver courtroom, detailing how he received bid-pricing data he believed had been shared by other U.S. poultry suppliers in an alleged widespread effort to rig contracts and wring more profits from sales to restaurants and grocery stores. Bryant, who worked in the heart of the chicken industry in Kentucky, came to view his employer, Greeley-based Pilgrim’s Pride Corp. (Nasdaq: PPC), and other major chicken suppliers, as working together in bidding, not rivals, he said.
