Teradata shares fall on second-quarter outlook

Teradata Corp. shares fell in the extended session Thursday after the data analytics company's earnings forecast for the current quarter fell short of Wall Street estimates. Teradata shares fell 8.5% after hours, following a 1.3% decline to close the regular session at $43.72. Teradata expects earnings of 28 cents to 30 cents a share for the second quarter, and $1.45 to $1.55 a share for the year. Analysts had forecast earnings of 34 cents a share for the second quarter, and $1.49 a share for the year. The company reported a first-quarter loss of $10 million, or 9 cents a share, compared with a loss of $7 million, or 6 cents a share, in the year-ago period. Adjusted earnings were 22 cents a share. Revenue declined to $468 million from $506 million in the year-ago quarter. Analysts surveyed by FactSet had forecast earnings of 20 cents a share on revenue of $486.1 million.
