Edie Windsor, Same-Sex Marriage Pioneer, Was Also a Computer Genius

Edith Windsor, the LGBT-rights activist who died at the age of 88 on Tuesday, will be long remembered for the culmination of her decades-long career as an activist: the lawsuit that led to legalization of same-sex marriage in the United States. Edith Windsor greets the crowd outside the U.S. Supreme Court after arguments in her case against the Defense of Marriage Act, in Washington, D.C., on March 27, 2013. Windsor was also a computer whiz and an IBM programmer.
