Amazon: Will Bezos Shake Up Another Big Industry?

Just when you were starting to get your head around how you might someday schedule doctor’s visits through Amazon.com, there’s news that it’s setting itself up to take down the U.S. Postal Service. On Friday, The Wall Street Journal reported that Amazon (AMZN) was preparing to launch a service that would pick up packages from companies that sell stuff on its site, then deliver the packages for the sellers. • Shares of FedEx (FDX) and United Parcel Service (UPS), whose customers Amazon could target for such a service—perhaps by offering substantial discounts—fell Friday.
