[$$] Big Stock Bets: GE, Activision; Selling AT&T

Janus Henderson Group blog features an entry by portfolio manager Hamish Chamberlayne that posits that, “The future sustainability of the global economy requires change across multiple sectors” and that “sustainability makes good business and investment sense.” Perhaps it is with this mindset that Janus (JHG) raised its stake in General Electric (GE) by nearly a quarter in the fourth quarter. The asset manager bought 987,000 more GE shares, ending 2017 with 5.1 million shares. Actually, strike that “at the time.” GE shares tumbled 43%, not including dividends, in 2017, but so far this year they’re down another 16% through midday trading Tuesday.
