Maritime transportation company Trailer Bridge has signed a $62 million, 18-year lease with the Jacksonville Port Authority, a move the company said will spur increased trade with Puerto Rico. Jaxport is the top port in the U.S. for trade with Puerto Rico, with about 90% of all sea trade between the mainland and the island going through Jacksonville. Trailer Bridge is one of three ocean carriers based on the First Coast that services that shipping lane, providing barge service twice a week between Jacksonville and Puerto Rico.
