‘Us’ slashes record box-office opening

“Us” delivered a scary-good opening at the domestic box office this weekend, grossing more than $70 million in estimated ticket sales. Produced by Universal Pictures, a division of Comcast Corp. (NASDAQ: CMCSA), and Peele’s Monkeypaw Productions for $20 million, “Us” added an estimated $17 million from 47 international markets. Lupita Nyong’o and Winston Duke star in the psychological slasher thriller as an all-American family that encounters their evil twins during their summer vacation.
