Feb 23 (Reuters) - Marriott International Inc onTuesday appointed Tony Capuano, group president for globaldevelopment, as its chief executive officer, replacing ArneSorenson, who died last week while on treatment for pancreaticcancer.
Capuno joined Marriott in 1995 and was in charge of thecompany's U.S. and Canada lodging business.
The hotel chain also named Stephanie Linnartz, grouppresident, consumer operations, as its president.
"Tony has a deep appreciation for Marriott's thousands ofassociates who ultimately deliver on our customer and brandpromise and I know he will be a superb steward of our culture,"Executive Chairman JW Marriott, Jr said in a statement.(Reporting by Shreyasee Raj; Editing by Shounak Dasgupta andAnil D'Silva)
