The 10 Lowest-Paid Players in This Year’s Super Bowl
Usually the lowest-paid players on an NFL team are the rookies and practice squad players. They rarely have an opportunity to make much impact.
When GOBankingRates analyzed the 10 lowest-paid players on the two Super Bowl teams, there were a couple of exceptions to that rule.

Although several players on the list are second- and third-stringers, the lowest-paid player is a special teams starter, and another on the list will be starting on the offensive line because of injuries.

10. Nick Keizer
Team: Kansas City Chiefs
Position: Tight End
Base Salary: $610,000
Cap Hit: $610,000
The second-string tight end is no Travis Kelce — he had six catches for 63 yards this season.

9. Tanner Hudson
Team: Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Position: Tight End
Base Salary: $595,588
Cap Hit: $595,588
The Bucs have many more options on offense. Hudson has three catches for 41 yards this season.

8. Martinas Rankin
Team: Kansas City Chiefs
Position: Left Tackle
Base Salary: $591,180
Cap Hit: $591,180
The Chiefs will hope to get their money’s worth out of Rankin because he will start in the Super Bowl since star left tackle Eric Fisher is injured.

7. Byron Pringle
Team: Kansas City Chiefs
Position: Wide Receiver
Base Salary: $586,766
Cap Hit: $586,766
If the third-string wide receiver gets into the game, you can bet he’ll have one catch. That’s because Pringle played 13 games and tallied 13 catches (for 160 yards and one touchdown) this season.

6. Ross Cockrell
Team: Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Position: Cornerback
Base Salary: $642,353
Cap Hit: $529,416
The 29-year-old second-string cornerback played in 12 games this season, racking up 11 tackles.

5. Darius Harris
Team: Kansas City Chiefs
Position: Outside Linebacker
Base Salary: $502,348
Cap Hit: $502,348
Harris, 25, played in just four games for the Chiefs this season, totaling 14 tackles as the third-string linebacker.

4. Tim Ward
Team: Kansas City Chiefs
Position: Defensive End
Base Salary: $287,056
Cap Hit: $287,056
Ward, a rookie out of Old Dominion, played in only one game for the Chiefs this season but made five tackles.

3. Jeremiah Ledbetter
Team: Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Position: Defensive End
Base Salary: $198,529
Cap Hit: $198,529
Ledbetter, a third-year player, totaled three tackles in three games as a third-string defensive end.

2. Stefen Wisniewski
Team: Kansas City Chiefs
Position: Guard
Base Salary: $185,294
Cap Hit: $185,294
Wisniewski has impressive timing. Cut by the Eagles in 2019, he signed with the Chiefs in October and won a Super Bowl title. After signing in the offseason with the Steelers, he suffered an injury and was waived in November 2020. Wisniewski then signed again with the Chiefs, where he played two games before going back to the practice squad. With all the injuries on the offensive line, Wisniewski might play in the Super Bowl against the Bucs.

1. Jaydon Mickens
Team: Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Position: Kick Returner/Punt Returner
Base Salary: $48,529
Cap Hit: $48,529
Mickens is by far the biggest bargain at the Super Bowl. He has seven catches in 10 games, but his real value comes in the return game. Mickens has 16 punt returns and 14 kickoff returns this season.

Methodology: In order to find the 10 lowest-paid players in this year’s Super Bowl (LV), GOBankingRates used Spotrac’s team cap tracker for the 2020 season for both the Kansas City Chiefs and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. GOBankingRates then combined the two teams’ active rosters and sorted in terms of (1) total cap hit with the 10 lowest-paid players being included in the final list. For the bottom 10 the following data points were found along with total cap hit: (2) player name; (3) team played for; (4) position; (5) base salary; (6) signing bonus; (7) roster bonus; (8) workout bonus; (9) restructure bonus; and (10) any miscellaneous bonuses. GOBankingRates also used both teams depth charts to create a 10 lowest-paid starters for each team following the same criteria. All data was collected on and up to date as of Jan. 25, 2021.
