Lady Antebellum Joins Earth, Wind & Fire for Joyous Collaboration at 2017 CMT Awards

The 2017 CMT Awards, which aired June 7, served up a whopping — and surprising — evening of multi-genre talent, with a variety of unexpected artist duets and collaborations. Arguably the best of these was the show’s finale, which presented country trio Lady Antebellum joining forces with R&B legends Earth, Wind & Fire.

The two bands came together for a two-song collaboration which served as a preview to the upcoming special CMT Crossroads: Earth, Wind & Fire and Friends, which airs June 23.

The duet started off with Lady Antebellum performing the single “You Look Good” from their soon-to-drop album Heart Break, which was enhanced by EWF’s signature horns in the background.

It didn’t take long for things to shift into full speed ahead when Earth, Wind & Fire themselves all joined on stage for the classic “September.” Vocalists Charles Kelley and Hillary Scott showed they knew how to belt it out R&B style, while guitarist Dave Haywood took matters into his hands for a smoking guitar solo.

The 2017 CMT Awards were held live June 7 at Nashville’s Music City Center.
